“ Best katsu in the city! My daughter was craving katsu so we had to stop by for lunch. Luckily we didn't have to wait but there's usually a line. Service was quick and attentive and there's a cozy vibe! Nothing fancy but solid katsu. ”

“ Oh my gosh! I was running around NYC and I really wanted a rice plate. I looked on here and it was the closest place so I zoomed (since it was right around the corner) inside and it was so cute! You walk in and it's a very narrow hallway for solo eaters or small parties and then expands into tables for a party size of 4 or so. The service was fast and the food was delicious! The way they cook their Katsu chicken was divine! And the curry was so flavorful. The prices is a little bit high for my taste but it was still so so so so good. There was a line by the time I finished and left my meal. Please come visit! ”
“ Really amazing katsu! When I first walked in, it smelled soo amazing, and I knew I was in for a great meal. They have so many combo options, it took me a while to choose what I wanted, but I ended up getting the Berkshire Pork Loin. It came with miso soup and cabbage salad. Both the miso soup and cabbage salad were solid. The katsu itself was so juicy, and the breading was the perfect texture. It also wasn't super oily, which I appreciated. My friend and I also shared a giant bowl of edamame to round out our meal. Overall, the meal felt very authentic, and everything tasted amazing. I will definitely be back to try their katsu curry sometime! ”
“ TLDR-- 10/10 amazing katsu curry cant wait to go back! This place has the BEST katsu curry i think ive ever had!! My friends and I came at 2pm with no reservation and were immediately seated. There were a couple full tables and an overall pretty nice vibe. The wait staff was also super attentive and provided excellent service. I got the lunch special pork katsu curry, which came with the gozen set dish (cabbage + miso soup). Katsu Hama also makes a really delicious miso soup, which surprised me because the miso soup that i've had at restaurants tend to let me down. The miso soup was super flavorful and you could taste the miso flavor, which I am a big fan of. The cabbage comes unseasoned (literally a massive bowl of cabbage) but there is sesame sauce in the table for you to add. Not much to say about the cabbage since I added the sauce to my liking other than the cabbage being crunchy and fresh. The katsu curry was an amazing experience; the karsu itself was super crunchy, with that texture being consistent with each slice. It was also pretty big and thick, but despite that it wasnt dry. The curry itself was really good; i thought that it had the perfect curry consistency: not too watery and not too thick. The hot curry with rice was what I needed after a cold day out. The portion size for the lunch set was perfect; it made me feel soo full and it was def money well spent. My friends had both gotten the sashimi set + katsu (also a lunch special). I can only say a little bit about the eggplant and potato salad that was included, since that's all I tried from their set. The potato salad was good and what you expect of a japanese potato salad. The eggplant had a bit of a jelly consistency (i think bc it was cold) but I wasnt a big fan of it. Overall, best katsu curry place ive had so far and I am excited to go back!! ”

“ Probably one of the most real to Japan Katsu spots in NYC! I've come here a few times now, and I'm never disappointed. While the restaurant isn't the brightest and most modern spot, it feels most like a classic Japan eatery. The staff is nice and work pretty quickly. The wait time is rarely an issue, but I've only been for lunch so far. The price point is also reasonable for NYC. The katsu is fried well; just a tad on the oilier side than some other spots. It's a large, juicy cutlet and paired with thinly shaved cabbage. I've tried some of their other sides/ appetizers such as the agedashi tofu and the takowasa. The agedashi tofu tastes good, but not fried too well. The takowasa is standard and pretty tasty. Overall a 4.5/5 - definitely one of my go-to spots! ”
“ If you're looking for a solid katsu place to impress your taste buds, this is the spot. The service was very kind and fast. There was quite the number of food selections to choose from, but luckily their sets with personal names made things easier. My Gozen Brooklyn Set ($26) came with the pork katsu and 2pc Japanese style fried chicken (karaage). Gozen added rice, pork and vegetables to the basic miso soup, and tons of salad. If you're not one to get stuffed easily, Katsu-Hama is going to challenge that. The meal is a lot! The cutlet pieces, crispy, yet juicy on the inside, and the karaage were perfectly tender. I was stuffed by the end of it. I'm not one for katsu's but I was impressed, go here for your katsu! ”
“ I stopped by Katsu-Hama on a Thursday night before a Broadway show since it was close by. They don't take reservations, so we did a walk in around 6 PM and got seated right away. I ordered the Katsu Hama Special Set and the Berkshire Pork Loin Curry. The special set came with shrimp tempura, pork katsu, rice, miso soup, and lettuce. The katsu and tempura were super crispy and so good, but after a while, all the fried food made me crave something saucy. The Berkshire pork loin curry. It was phenomenal! The curry was rich, flavorful, and absolutely addictive. Even with the curry on the rice, the pork katsu stayed crispy. I'm still thinking about it. The portions were huge! I was stuffed and could barely finish everything. The restaurant itself is small, so it fills up fast. If you're planning to go, try to get there when they open. If you're in the area and craving crispy, delicious katsu, Katsu-Hama is definitely worth a visit! ”
